2 Detached houses in Newbury...
For its Newbury project, YDP bought a piece of land with pre-existing planning consent for two substantial, detached houses. The land was situated in an upmarket, desirable part of Newbury.
Planning consent was obtained for two beautiful 5-bedroom homes and contract management was placed in the hands of Easton Bevins in Bristol. For its builders, YDP chose to instruct the same firm that made its Thatcham development such a success.
Both houses were traditionally built using local brick and slate, allowing them to blend quickly and easily into the surrounding 'edge of town' landscape.
Their traditional appearance, particularly from the front elevation, belied their substantial size. Each had 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 3 reception rooms and a large, superbly equipped kitchen. A conservatory behind each led out onto a large garden, making them fine new family homes.
The finished houses generated considerable interest in the area due to their appearance and build-quality, and both were sold in short order.
All in all, this was a straightforward project which progressed smoothly and was not subject to any of the problems and delays that often beset 'new build' developments.
